Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Breakfast Network was born in February 2007 out of a prior networking group who's organisation and structure was failing it.

The intention was to develop a group run by its members for its members, and not answerable to an organisation who had little or no direct involvement and therefore interest (except financial) in it. The group is democratically self-governed by its members leading to a sense of belonging and fairness that develops an atmosphere and spirit that is conducive to effective networking. Members are there not because they feel they have to be there but because they want to be there and can see the positive results.

Generally each member has time to present their business or discuss issues of interest each week. A lengthier slot for one member to provide a more detailed presentation is also arranged. However, we do not follow a rigid agenda. Thus if a member requests a brain-storming session on a business problem or opportunity then the group is only too keen to help. Periodically we will do "One on One" sessions where members will present to one other member who will then present to the rest of the group. This encourages effective communication.

Occasionally the group will arrange guest visitors who it is felt can bring an interesting and educational presentation to the group for the benefit of the members.

However, the bottom line for all networking groups is whether it works. Do enough business, referrals or leads cross the table? The difference in atmosphere of this group compared to many others translates itself in significant results, with members enjoying a significant financial gain: outlay of varying degrees.
